What skills do you have that would make you a good University student?
To be a good University student there are a few qualities that are crucial, it can range from being a good team player to being independent. I think I have qualities that could make me a good student if I decide to go to University, I think I can work well in groups as I find groups are a way of getting everyone's opinion and creating something amazing, for example throughout my first year of college I've had to work with others, this includes other students in my course or my actors in my productions, where it's either just been a lesson of idea making or actually going out to film. I also find working independent easy to do, as I have very good time management and get things done properly, making sure that I have enough time to go back and improve my work and that my schedule will guide me through the production. I personally believe I have an overall positive attitude, especially towards studying, where I try to achieve the best quality of work to the best of my ability. I have a passion for work, I believe that once I start to work I begin to really try hard, as I find ideas flood through my mind, once I get out of that stage of figuring out where to begin I can really produce some good level of work.

I enjoy working in a team as I find within a team you can all put your ideas together to create one great idea. I think I am organised and can work under pressure, which i personally think working under pressure makes me work faster as I know I have a deadline to reach. I have skills with IT and social media, as I have done a lot towards those throughout my first year at college. I do think confidence is the only thing I am lacking but I think since a couple months ago, I've really come out my shell.
Internships Abroad
I would love to do an internship in Singapore as I would not only like to see the Singapore lifestyle and have a different location rather than living in the UK, but I also like the idea of exploring similar internships that I could do in the UK, in another country instead. In their Art sectors there is Graphic design and Video, it will help me for when I come back home to the UK and have experienced the way of learning there. I would like to work with other companies and get the cultural experience too.
With the standard package, I'd get accommodation, airport pick-up, transportation card, SIM card and also transport on my first day, which is very beneficial as I don't want to get lost or confused on my first day.
I can spend a minimum of 60 days to 180 days in Singapore, I think working in another country can help me with not only being independent as I wouldn't know anyone but also get a view on what it's like to live outside the UK.

I would also love to go to Korea as well, I like the culture and I think doing an internship would also let me see the different type of working environment. The Art sector has Graphic Design and Video which is the same as the Singapore internship but I would love to visit Korea more and would really love to live the lifestyle.
Within the standard package I would get a accommodation, airport pick-up, transportation card, SIM card, networking events and transport on my first day. Also this is helpful as I don't want to get lost as I've never been there before but I think the networking events would benefit me to meet new people.
The internship would be 60 days minimum and 180 days maximum, payment from £1690-£17630.

Travel and Work
I could live in Japan for a year, where not only could I go around and see Japan (living the lifestyle) but also earn money. I looked on the Bunac website which had lots of options to work and travel, even though there wasn't any places in Europe and not many in Asia, Japan is one of the places that I would really want to visit and live in, only being there for a year could help me forgive out if I'd want to stay out there or just travel for a year whilst earning money.
I think when looking at possible job roles in Japan, I wouldn't mind working as a waitress or even being a sales assistant as my part-time job now is a sales assistant, so I am already experienced. On the website it said I didn't really need to need already know Japanese and that there is a program provided that could teach me Japanese (costs extra) it will also help me translate my CV inot Japanese so I can start getting a job.
I think working and travelling in America could be a lot of fun, as not only I can speak English but I would find it fun travelling and working in the busy city of New York, I have always wanted to go to New York, I think working there would involve a lot of hard work but also could be quite enjoyable. The cost to get into the program starts at £650, it would only be 4 months and I could go as a University student as well.
I wouldn't mind to work any of the roles provided, I think I would apply for Housekeeper or Food server, as I can obtain a clean environment and Food server includes customer serves, which I already do at my part-time job now. By working as many hours I could, it helps me save up so I can go around and sight-see.
Going Straight To Work
I had a contact from Pinewood Studios, and had contacted him about work experience (potentially getting a job in the industry). Within this email I had explained what I enjoyed about in my course and that I really like the research stage, finding out where I'd like to film my productions and who fits the roles perfectly. I also like thinking about my ideas and creating it into a much bigger picture.
|
I would probably be leaning more to "Direction" or "Production Office" for someone who doesn't technically know what they want to do within the media industry, I think overall looking at management and organisational where I could go from a floor runner towards a role that I would want to work up on the careers ladder. But once again going into research and working with people who do all the behind the scenes work, figuring out where/who/what would work for the productions.
I personally feel Apprenticeships are good to look into, since a lot of them are paid and could also allow you to learn on the way. It also shows what you're capable of. The apprenticeship at Harrods is a fixed term (contract) of 18 months and would be full time, though the salary isn't presented, it could either be an intern job for 18 months then they can decided if they would want to hire me on further.
I also looked (and willing to apply) at Technicolor which is provider of service and products for a whole range of media industries. I had a look at being a runner, since it's a great start if I want to climb the career ladder. I think when I apply, I'd also be happy to relocate of needed (in the future) since they have jobs roles not only in London but Canada, America, France etc. Allowing me to have a change and letting me see more of the media industry within another country. I will be applying online and have already made my profiles.
