Name: Alex Campbell
Age: 17 Auditioning Role: Murderer/Boyfriend Audition Notes: He has potential to be the main character, though he didn't give off the look of someone who plays an evil character. He didn't really know his lines and had to gather himself to understand what he was saying. Though we do think he'd be great to play the 'other guy' since he fits the smart and kind aspect of someone who's in love. |
Name: Jacob Bell-Ryan
Age: 18 Auditioning Role: Murderer/Boyfriend Audition Notes: He was very enthusiastic but he didn't really capture the emotions and seriousness of a character who had murdered his girlfriend. We do want someone who's passionate but didn't give off that 'vibe' of someone who's emotionless. Though we think he'd be a great back-up actor. |
Name: Scott Benjamin
Age: 18 Auditioning Role: Murderer/Boyfriend Audition Notes: We think he's perfect for the role, he gave off an upset but scary 'vibe' someone who looked like they cared but you knew they didn't. He could give a deadpan look but his tone of voice could show sympathy, which fits the character since they're slightly crazy. |
Name: Cherique Bullock
Age: 17 Auditioning Role: Victim/Girlfriend Audition Notes: She understood the character extremely way. Since her character has no dialogue she described the character further by also showing hand movements, in which she'll do in the actual production. She was clear about how the character would act and we also found her appearance quite fitting as someone who looked quite innocent. |
Name: Neesha Hayat
Age: 17 Auditioning Role: Victim/Girlfriend Audition Notes: She slightly understood the character until she mentioned that she'd be quite judgemental, the description of our character was someone who would do no harm and was quite innocent so the audience would sympathise with her. Though Neesha would make a very good back-up actress. |
For our music video, we decided to cast Scott Benjamin as the murderer/boyfriend and Cherique Bullock as the victim/ girlfriend. The reason is Scott was he had a very clear voice, he has quite a posh accent making him fitting for the role of the character, who lives in an elegant home and is meant to have this perfect live. Since I got him to read out the confession, the way he shows pain in his voice when talking about his girlfriend, makes him seem very manipulating and could fool anyone into thinking his girlfriend had killed herself. Scott has a very smart look to him, he's well mannered and tidy, once again fitting for this role. To us in his auditions, he gave off the 'American Psycho' vibe for someone you wouldn't believe could do the things he's done.
For Cherique, we thought she was fitting since she has this very innocent appearance to her, as though she wouldn't hurt anyone. When she was describing her character (since they didn't have any lines) she was really spot on about how her character has this flirting side to her, which could also be taken as innocent since she'll be touching her hair, looking over a lot. Cherique wears clothing that makes her seem cute, as she also wears brightly coloured eye shadow a lot, so I thought her natural sense of style was fitting for her character too, since you want the audience to feel bad for her at the same time thinking was she actually cheating on her boyfriend with someone else.

Name: Elizabeth Botting
Age: 17 Audition Role: Fundamentalist Audition Notes: She should very good emotions and easily switched from happy too serious. Her appearance fits as someone who doesn't fit the 'norm'. Elizabeth also has a passion in climate change. Her handwriting was very neat and easy to read. Her body language showed that she'd be a strong character by the way she held herself. We think Elizabeth will be fitting for the role. |
Name: Tia Manka
Age: 17 Audition Role: Fundamentalist Audition Notes: She has a very innocent look and would somewhat fit the character as someone who isn't seen as strong by society but actually is. However her handwriting wasn't so clear and would need to have an 'edgy' look to her to make her seem as someone who's not within the 'norm'. Tia will be our back-up actress. |
Short Film
Editing Process
This is my editing for my short film, it shows how much of b-roll and our own footage I've used. Since we couldn't use music throughout, there are parts where I've had to cut it and used our own foley sounds but their is music in the background just to make quiet parts not so obvious and boring. The second pictures shows the photos I put in when showing the Brexit articles, using opacity to transition from one article to another, and overlaying them so you can still slightly see the other article underneath, such a simple but effective effect.
Music Video
Editing Process
This is my editing for the music video, is shows the amount of clips I used and for how long I used them. Since I struggled to film up the whole song, I tried a editing technique of putting a full length clip in the background of multiple clips, I did this by putting the clip on top of another and changing the opacity to however low i felt it suited the clip below, you faintly want to see the other clip. I also tried cutting to the beat but found cutting to every time the shovel hit the ground was a lot easier as the beat was off at times and was hard to hear.
