Turbett & Crew Production Company
I found this talk very useful as Sue Turbett was talking about 'How to get a job' and what employers notice about you and your CV.
Sue used to work as a PA but then later on become a Director.
For a CV she meant that it's good to not just list credits and to also spell check. For an interview it's always good to research about the company you're applying for, so they know you're keen. Before an interview, she mentioned the you can try and ring to ask questions, which might show them that you're keen and they could invite you in for an interview, though she said it doesn't always work but it's worth a try.
She also talked about how any job within the industry is very important, especially people like Floor Runners, who many don't want this sort of job as they think it's too 'far down' and what the higher jobs but even if you apply to be a Floor Runner, they want you to be passionate. Becoming a Floor Runner will help you move up the career ladder, you must always do what you're told and to never moan.
Being part of the media industry is all about networking, you will always meet new people. But also using social media can help you network with others within media, knowing someone in media can help you get a job because most of the time it's about contacts.

Gareth Unwin
I found the talk with Gareth very interesting, he spoke a lot about the type of jobs he did and others around him.
He is now the head of film at ScreenSkills, which is skills and training for screen industries.
He didn't do A-levels, neither did he get a degree but he did go to college (very late though), but he was still able to work as an Assistant Director for 30 years and even become a Producer, where he produced the Oscar winning 'The King's Speech'.
