Coca Cola Advert
Ideas:
-A group of friends debating which flavour of Coca Cola is better.
-A couple are out in town, throughout the advert the boyfriend is trying to propose to his girlfriend. In the end, he presents the ring on a Coca Cola bottle.
-Because Coco Cola is a popular choice to make an advert, thinking about changing the product to a Fanta bottle.
-A couple just coming home after shopping in town, the boyfriend is trying to propose to his girlfriend throughout but struggles. He uses the tab on the Coke can as a fake ring before proposing with a real camera.

The Coca Cola advert is very well known, it inspired me for my own advert because how Christmassy it is and that it really advertises Coca cola. I do find the advert very cringe, because of how Americanised it is. They do play the same advert every year, which makes it well known but also can cause boredom, that's why I wanted to do my own version and create something different but still using the same product. The 'Chewing Gum' advert on the other hand is what I want to accomplish, it's very romantic and throughout shows the product but to the couple it has a meaning to their relationship. I like the idea there's no talking but as an audience member you still understand what is happening. I am inspired by both adverts but I find the Coca Cola advert to repetitive but the brand is so famous that it still works for them. I do prefer the chewing gum advert because it's a modern love story and it's very sweet, something I want my advert to turn out like. I think both adverts use Pathos, the Coca Cola advert is very old and is played nearly every year so people will remember it, especially when they grow up, a memory of theirs as a child. Whilst the chewing gum advert is also Pathos because it's showing what real life couples do, which is full in-love, argue but in the end they love each other a lot that they don't want to keep fighting, but they have their own twist on things and have their own special connection, which makes the audience think they're very cute and romantic, very much in-love.
For the Coke advert, I find that the advert's target audience is family members, it shows Santa which young children love to see but also a little boy getting excited to see the Coke truck drive in, as you can see in the background there is quite a lot of family members there. I always found Coke Cola to be a family sort of product.
For the chewing gum advert, their target audience is more couples, as the advert is showing their love story, I think people in relationships would start to relate to them, the 'honeymoon' romance at the start to the arguing to then staying together forever kind of thing, that many couple want and would get. I think it's an advert that would make people go 'aww'.
The Coke Cola's advert slogan is 'the holiday's are coming' which is to get people excited and as soon as you see Santa you know it's coming close to Christmas, by using 'the holiday's are coming' is to get people to start going out and buying products, especially Coke Cola, it's a way of telling people to prepare themselves for Christmas. Though the Chewing Gum advert doesn't have a special slogan just for the advert, it says 'give extra, get extra' which is understandable as they give each other chewing gum throughout but doesn't really work with the advert and ruins it a bit.

Week- 19/11/18
What have you been working on?
For this week I have been planning and deciding on what product I want to advertise and how will I show it. I am working with another person, so it's a team effort and we have spilt up which task each of us will do.
What has been useful/effective?
It is was quite easy to think of a product to advertise, we've decided to do Coke Cola because we find it very popular at Christmas time especially. It's also useful working in pairs because then there isn't much workload on just one person and we spend a whole lesson developing our idea and finding the genre, which is romance.
What has not been effective? How will you improve?
Deciding on location was a bit of a struggle because of the weather recently, it has rained a lot and was windy so it wouldn't make the film romantic and would have been difficult for the actors to focus. We wanted to film in a park and shopping centre but we were stuck on which area we wanted to film, High Wycombe or Reading.
Have you completed all you tasks for the week? List the ones which you still need to get done.
I've completed most of what I have to do, I still have a few things to completed because I struggle when I have to do a large amount of writing.
These are the things I've completed:
-Ideas
-Research (looking at other adverts)
-Focus Group
-Locations
-Props List
-Production Schedule
What are your priorities/targets for next week?
Sorting out the script and developing our idea more so I can completed my storyboard. To also get some actors, we've already contacted them and are waiting for replies. And we've decided to film in High Wycombe, depending on the day and the weather.

Week-26/11/18
What have you been working on?
This week was all about filming, we had found the locations we wanted to film in, so all we needed to do was to contact our actors and decided on timings because our actors were busy on a lot of days, so we've only got two days to get everything filmed.
What has been useful/effective?
Picking a time and day was easy to do, even though our actors had to wait awhile to figure out what days they were busy, it was helpful that they told us very soon, so I could complete the production schedule, which is useful because I feel without a schedule, I would become very stressed and get confused on what and where everything will be.
What has not been effective? How will you improve? (Written after the problem)
We had a huge problem, the couple we were going to film called us up on the day we were actually going to film and told us they had a fight and didn't want to do it anymore. So we spent the whole day contacting as many couples we knew and tried to find someone to film with us. Another problem that occurred was we were told to stop filming in the town centre, so we couldn't even film any B-roll. Next time, I will double check and ask if we can film in a certain area and also contact back-up actors just in case all doesn't go well.
Have you completed all you tasks for the week? List the ones which you still need to get done.
-Found locations
-Finished planning our scenes
-Brought props
-Storyboard completed
What are your priorities/targets for next week?
Once we've filmed everything, next week will be about editing, also need to check that we've got plenty of footage, just in case we need to call back our actors. But I just want to completed the editing so it's ready to show.

Week-3/12/18
What have you been working on?
We had to film in a different location and find new actors. Luckily my sister and her boyfriend were free at the weekend (30th, 1st and 2nd) so we decided to film at their house instead and they also had their decorations up so it made it very Christmassy.
What has been useful/effective?
Filming in a house is so much easier than doing a public location, because we weren't in the way of people and it wasn't a hazard. It was also useful that it was inside for most of it because the weather was poor and when editing the driveway scene I had to brighten the outside quite a lot.
What has not been effective? How will you improve?
Now I have to go back and change or redo all paperwork, so a new script, storyboard, locations and crew list. I couldn't really help the fact that the actors before didn't want to be part of that but I did complete everything in my own time.
